PFS Prison Ministry Conference 2022

PFS held the Prison Ministry Conference 2022 on Saturday 23 July. It was a momentous occasion, as the last conference was held in 2018. The 2020 edition of this 2-yearly event was cancelled due to Covid-19.

About 150 people attended this year’s conference with the theme: “Journey to Restoration”. The Conference emphasised the topics of Restorative Justice (RJ) and the importance of working with families of ex-offenders.

Participants were enlightened by the presentations of our distinguished speakers Mr Jonathan Derby (Special Advisor, Restorative Justice, Prison Fellowship International) and Mr Karam Singh (Director, Psychological & Correctional Rehabilitation Division, Singapore Prison Service). They were later joined on stage by Mr Salmon Chung (PFS Marriage and Family Therapist) in a Panel Discussion which delved more deeply into these important areas.

Besides hearing testimonies from beneficiaries on the positive impact of PFS’s Family Care Ministry efforts, representatives from Trueway Presbyterian Church also shared their encouraging experiences from a partnering church perspective.

As the conference was held in the same compound where PFS shifted into just two weeks earlier, guests were able to visit the Community Hub and office during their lunch break to view the facilities, which include areas such as our Drop-In Centre and specially designed Counselling Rooms.

The conference wrapped up with our Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Lorna Khoo and Associate Chaplain, Rev. Jeffrey Tay dedicating the Board, Committees, Volunteers and Staff for this work which God has called us for.
