Delivering a taste of Joy

15 Aug 2020

In times of struggle, God will provide for the needs of His people.

As the COVID-19 lockdown across Singapore continued to affect PFS beneficiaries, our team was thinking of ways to keep in touch with them and show our support for them. We took the problem to God and prayed fervently for His will to be done and for a solution to be found.

We previously blessed our beneficiaries with canned and frozen food deliveries. For this Meal Blessing event, we decided to bless the beneficiaries and their families in two different ways:

  1. Provide freshly prepared meals for them

  2. Procure these meals from fellow beneficiaries to help supplement their business incomes.

PFS reached out to two beneficiaries who own food businesses to provide meals at a reasonable cost. One beneficiary provided Western food from her hawker stall in Chai Chee, while the other beneficiary prepared nasi briyani straight from his home kitchen.

These beneficiaries prepared 166 meal packets for their fellow beneficiaries and their families to enjoy.

After the meals were prepared, our team members personally collected and delivered each meal with care to the beneficiaries’ homes.

More than 60 PFS beneficiaries and their families were filled with excitement as they waited patiently for their meal blessings to be delivered, one home at a time.

As one team member recalled, “It was humbling to be part of this event. I felt a bit paiseh because there were a lot of food packets to deliver, it was almost 8 or 9+ pm before we delivered the last few packets and people were waiting very long for us to deliver the meals, but the families were still appreciative.”

This Meal Blessing event was a great encouragement to PFS and helped strengthen our commitment towards supporting our beneficiaries.

When we bless others with a meal free of worry and trouble, we not only deliver a taste of joy but also a taste of God’s love for His people. May we all continue to seek shelter in God and trust in Him to provide for us, even during a time of crisis like COVID-19.
