Guest of Honor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, meeting with our beneficiaries and volunteers at the press room.

Prison Fellowship Singapore hosted a gala dinner on September 1st to commemorate 70 years of prison ministry in Singapore. The event was a joyous reunion of valued partners, volunteers, and supporters in the prison ecosystem.

The PLove Atelier booth also provided embossing services for guests who wanted to add their initials on the leather cardholders.

Guests were greeted at the foyer of The Fullerton Hotel’s Grand Ballroom with an exhibition chronicling the history of prison ministry work in Singapore. The exhibition featured beautiful illustrations and bilingual text that traced the heartfelt contributions of Reverend Khoo Siaw Hua and Reverend Henry Khoo.

Guests also had the opportunity to purchase merchandise from PLove Atelier, a local brand that empowers special needs youth in Singapore, through artisan crafts training and developing them into dignified craftsmen. The sales of leather pouches, keyrings, and tags would be beneficial to both organizations and their work.

Upon arrival, our guest of honor, Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development, was greeted and ushered into the press room, where he was hosted by Gregory Vijayendran (Chairman of Board) and Chua Kok Wan (Executive Director of PFS). During that time, he met several beneficiaries and volunteers of PFS: Daniel Karthik, Mark Chay, and Daniel Yong. It was a session where the Minister of State had the opportunity to hear each of their journeys and offer encouragement.

In the ballroom, the evening was opened with a welcome address from the Chairman, who spoke passionately about the organization's history and mission to help inmates and their families, as well as the long-lasting impact of Reverend Khoo Siaw Hua and Reverend Henry Khoo's work. Following which, guests were treated to a time of music and worship led by friends from Breakthrough Missions.

A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the commemorative book, Forgiven not Forsaken. Penned by William Wan, the book tells the story of the evolution of prison ministry in Singapore, from its humble beginnings in the 1950s to its current state of growth. It also features stories from former inmates who have been transformed by PFS's programs.

Guests were also treated to the premiere of the commemorative video, that encapsulated the efforts of both Reverend Khoos through stellar animation, the impact of prison ministry shared through the lives of Tay Lee Leng and Caleb Tan, as well as congratulatory messages from Timothy Khoo (Reverend Henry Khoo's son), Jason Wong (Founder of the Yellow Ribbon Project), and Ms. Shie Yong Lee (Commissioner of Prisons).

To add some pizzazz to the evening, our event was emceed by radio host and celebrity Vernetta Lopez, who kept the evening moving with her wit and charm. The evening came to a beautiful close with a cake cutting ceremony and a toast to the future of prison ministry in Singapore.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening that brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the power of hope and redemption. 70 years of God’s faithfulness, all glory to God.
